Welcome to the East Lothian Council Museums Service online database.

Our database contains over 13,000 records ranging from steam locomotives to fine art, and including local archaeology, ceramics, textiles and costume, natural history specimens, as well as objects illustrating domestic, working and community life in East Lothian.

What can you see?

Please be aware that our online database is a work in progress. It does not contain everything in our collection yet, but new records are added all the time. We have added our Paintings and Belfield Pottery collections. We are currently adding our Photography collections.

How to Search

Search the database using the SEARCH BOX in the top right hand corner, or use the facilities under Explore Collection in the toolbar across the top. You can search By Historical Periods,  By Material (what an object was made of), By Place (where it came from), By Object Type (the type of object it is) and many more.

Get Involved

You can get involved by becoming a registered user of the database. By becoming a registered user you can post comments, ask questions, tell stories about the objects on display, or provide us with more information. All you need to do is Create New Account.
