Details
Musselburgh Station lay alongside the River Esk and was connected to the main North British network via a spur running over the River Esk. In this photograph the Inveresk Paper Company's locomotive No2 is shunting in the siding.
This is a black and white photograph. The view is of two lines of railway track on a curving bridge of metal construction crossing a river. The background is dominated by industrial buildings and chimneys.
Musselburgh Station opened on 16 July 1847. It was developed by the North British Railway Company as a terminal spur from the established Edinburgh & Dalkeith line to Fisherrow nearby. It closed to passengers in 1964, goods in 1970, and the line was lifted shortly after the last private sidings closed.
