Details
This is a photograph of day trippers in East Lothian in 1952. Many holidaymakers arrived in East Lothian by train and bus. Local companies were well placed to offer day trips from one resort to others nearby or to places of interest further afield.
This coach was owned by Wiles of Port Seton. The company promoted day trips during the summer months to nearby coastal resorts and was popular with holidaymakers at nearby Seton Sands Camp, where many summer visitors came from Glasgow. A popular evening trip was to the summer show at North Berwick's Harbour Pavilion.
