Details
This is a circular metal plaque bearing the seal of the royal burgh of Dunbar, possibly used, as other similar objects have been, on gates at Winterfield Park in Dunbar. This particular plaque was found in a store cupboard in the Town House in Dunbar, beside the jail room formerly used for archaeology displays. Dunbar became a royal burgh, in the reign of David II, in 1370, after previously having been a baronial burgh.
