Details
This snuff box was made in 1890 from timber recycled from Tantallon Castle. The creation of keepsakes or souvenirs from the timber of famous ships or houses was popular in late Victorian times.
The snuff box is in two circular parts and was made by turning the wood on a lathe; the outside is decorated by incised concentric rings. A paper disc with printed details of provenance fits inside the lid.
