Details
Ian Greig was a professional artist who was born and bred in North Berwick. He came from a talented artistic family, many of whom produced sketches and paintings. East Lothian Museums Service is fortunate to have a large collection of the families' artwork amongst our their collections.
Predominantly blue coloured watercolour painting depicting a strong looking workman, dressed in dungarees and a flat cap, in the process of lighting a cigarette.
This sketch was commercially produced, as one of a series for an advert for 'Player's cigarettes'. The caption for the advert read, 'ALL WORK AND NO PLAYER'S'.
