This photograph was taken on the occasion of a Civic Reception at North Berwick in 1946. The reception was for Rear Admiral AEMB Cunninghame-Graham and the captain of HMS Birmingham which was lying off the town.
This is a black and white photograph by GW Day of North Berwick. It is printed on paper and shows robed councillors and Royal Navy Officers in front of and on a set of steps beside a building.
In the years after World War II, most of East Lothian's towns hosted formal events for elements of the armed forces.
