Buses, Port Seton: Accession No. 1998.29.3

This photograph shows the departure of two bus-loads of day trippers from Wiles Garage, Port Seton in 1979. The company ran a summer programme of day-trips for several decades. During the 1970s, trips to nearby Dunbar and North Berwick were replaced by destinations further afield.

These coaches were owned by Wiles of Port Seton. The company promoted day trips during the summer months to nearby coastal resorts and was used by holidaymakers at nearby Seton Sands Camp. An evening 'Mystery Tour' was an enduring feature of the summer schedule.
