Details
This sketch gives an impression of how the artist Robert Archibald Dakers dressed when he set off to go walking and sketching.
The artist depicted in this sketch is laden with all the equipment he will need for a day's sketching and painting. Neatly slung on his back are an easel, umbrella, collapsible stool and water bottle. The picture is ironically entitled, 'A RESTFUL HOLIDAY'.
Robert Archibald Dakers was a journalist by profession and worked as the editor of the Haddingtonshire Courier newspaper for a number of years. Dakers was also a prolific artist who produced many sketches and paintings of Scottish landscapes and people.
